Who we are

RAS Foundation Limited (ACN 637 243 853) has been established to build on the great legacy of RAS of NSW Foundation Limited (ACN 124 177 608) and support the purposes of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (ABN 69 793 644 351) (“RAS”) which recognises rural and regional communities as the lifeblood of the agricultural sector in New South Wales.

With the gracious support of the RAS and generous donors, in particular John B. Fairfax, RAS of NSW Foundation Limited was established in 2007 to help build strong and vibrant rural and regional communities by providing a range of grants and scholarships for education and community development.

In order to continue and strengthen the vision of RAS of NSW Foundation Limited, RAS Foundation Limited was established to be a successor entity to RAS of NSW Foundation Limited, with the aim of being listed by name as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) under the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (Cth). RAS Foundation Limited is listed by name as a DGR under item 13.2.27 of section 30-105 of the ITAA 97 from 1 July 2020.

Listing by name as a DGR under the tax law allows the Foundation to receive tax-deductible donations for the countless grants, scholarships, and community projects it supports throughout the year. RAS Foundation Limited aims to use its DGR status to benefit regional and rural communities across New South Wales, and aims to continue to promote the maintenance, renewal, regeneration and development of strong, sustainable and vibrant rural, remote and regional communities in Australia.
