Although Angora goats were first imported to NSW in 1823 it wasn’t until 1869, they were judged and that was in the sheep competition. Goat fleece was judged in 1876, in the sheep competition but in 1938 goats, at last, had their own competition. For the first thirty-three years, it was dairy goats only, but the increase in goat breeds and the boom in goat farming saw the reintroduction of Angora and the introduction of Boer and Mohair goats.

Following a successful inaugural competition, Miniature goats will return to the 2024 Sydney Royal Goat Show.

Exhibitors are bound by the terms and conditions set out in the RAS General Regulations, the Goat Schedule and the conditions detailed in each Application for Entry. Please ensure that you have read these documents. A Competition Schedule is the rule book that governs each Competition. The Sydney Royal Goat Schedule tells you everything you need to know about the Goat Competitions. Available here as a PDF document, the Schedule lists entry fees, closing dates, arrival and departure details, conditions of entry, prizes and much more.  It is important that you read the Schedule carefully before entering any Goat Competition.

Sydney Royal Goat Show 6-17 April 2023 Welcome to the Sydney Royal Goat Show. The RAS has a new online entry system. Exhibitors will need to create a new account in order to register and submit entries. For support when using the new system, please contact our Competitions Service Centre on competitions@rasnsw.com.au or call 02 9704 1210. 2023 Sydney Royal Goat Show Judges Ms Marg Piccoli (VIC), Angora Goat Mr Carl Wilhelm Wannenburg (South Africa), Boer Goat Sydney Royal Miniature Goat Show 2023 sees the return of the Sydney Royal Miniature Goat Show. This competition will be conducted by the Miniature Goat Breeders Association (MGBA) . Please contact the MGBA for further information. Accommodation The RAS is pleased to offer limited accommodation to Exhibitors in our Goat competitions. Site sheds and mezzanine rooms are available to rent. Pricing and booking options can be found in the Schedule and in downloadable form on this page. Please note, accommodation must be paid for in full prior to the Show. Information about alternate options to our onsite accommodation is available from the downloadable documents section on this page. Health Declaration Forms As part of the requirement to manage biosecurity of exhibits entered into the Goat Show, the following completed and signed forms must be uploaded at time of entry. Substitution Forms Boer Goat Competition entrants are permitted to substitute classes 300, 303, 314 and 317 only. Substitutions must be submitted by Friday 17 March 2023. For further information regaridng substitutions, please see the Competition Schedule. Withdrawal Forms   For further information regarding withdrawals, please see the Competition Schedule. Parking The RAS is pleased to offer limited parking to Exhibitors in our Goat competitions. Parking for floats, vans, and trucks is available along with long-term parking for cars and other small vehicles. Parking not ordered and paid for at time of Entry can be purchased onsite on a first come, first serve basis from the Cattle or Horse Offices. Pricing information is below: Parking - Car only - $27 Parking - Float only - $27 Parking - Car & Trailer / Car & Float / Minibus - $54 Parking - Truck / Combination - up to 12.5 metres - $54 Parking - Truck / Combination - over 12.5 metres - $70 There are also many parking stations located in Sydney Olympic Park.
