The Sydney Royal Easter Show is the largest classroom in New South Wales, it is the place to come to discover how to milk a cow or shear a sheep, how to grow the biggest pumpkins in Australia and even how to use horsepower for electricity. It is also the place students can come and show what they have learned and to be judged for the hard work in agricultural pursuits. In 1875 the first competitions for school students were held – in the areas of needlework, wood carving, natural history collections and drawing. By 1904 school competitions had expanded to include the first display of farm produce by school children – a precursor to the Schools District Exhibit Competition, and in 1935 junior judging of cattle was introduced. The tradition of exhibiting and judging for schools continues today and includes poultry, pig, goat, honey and scarecrows. Entry is free for all schools – city, metropolitan rural and regional.

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW invites all schools with facilities for keeping poultry to take part in our School Poultry Competitions at the 2023 Sydney Royal Easter Show. In 2023, we ask for all Schools to submit their entries for all School Competition via the Online Entry System, there will be no offline form. The aim of the Competitions is to provide all schools with the opportunity to participate in agriculture and rear poultry with their students. The Competitions are FREE to enter. Sydney Royal School Produce Competition

The Competition allows schools with all garden types to compete in the Sydney Royal Flower & Garden Show. The Sydney Royal Flower & Garden Show would like to invite your school to enter the 2023 Sydney Royal School Produce Competition.    The Competition is FREE to enter. Please note that the competition has been revised this year and there will no longer be a separate Regional and Metropolitan competition - ALL schools enter the competition as per below: Any Garden Type – Primary School Any Garden Type – Secondary School The Competition is judged by experts of the horticulture industry and consists of two (2) components: Grown component : a box or basket of produce from a school garden, comprising of five different types of fruit, vegetables, or herbs. Project component : PowerPoint presentation detailing how students prepare, grow, and maintain the garden, with emphasis on sustainability and harvest of produce. How to enter If your school would like to enter the competition, please enter online at www.myras.org.au/login/exhibitor On receipt of your application, we will forward more details on how to record and present the produce for exhibition at the Sydney Royal Flower & Garden Show.
